Dear CrossPointe, It’s safe to say that our text for this Sunday, Genesis 17:1–27, is one of the most important chapters in the whole Bible. And within it is one of the most important verses as well: “And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you” (Gen. 17:7). I think Donald Macleod said it well: “What did God say to Abraham? ‘I will be your God.’ What does that mean? It means that God is saying to Abraham, ‘I will be for you. I will exist for you. I will exercise my God-ness for you. I will be committed to you.’ There is no way that can be improved upon! There is no more glorious promise: not in Romans, not in Hebrews, not in Revelation, not in the Gospel of John, not in the Upper Room: nowhere! These words of the Abrahamic covenant have never been excelled and never will. . . .” I can’t wait to be with you on Sunday as we stand in awe of God’s sovereign and glorious grace! Love y’all! TK

Dear CrossPointe, This Sunday, we’re picking back up in Genesis 16:7–16. When we looked at the first six verses last Sunday, what we saw was a total mess. Abram and Sarai had grown impatient as they waited for God to fulfill his promise to give them a child, so Sarai decided they had waited long enough and came up with a plan of her own. Long story short, it was a total disaster. In fact, it’s another one of those moments where we really can’t see a path forward. It seems as if they’ve come to the end of the road. That’s where we’ll pick up this Sunday. And here’s the question we’re really wondering: “What is God going to do in response to this faithless scheme?” See y’all on Sunday! TK
