Dear CrossPointe, Our text this Sunday is Genesis 16:1–6, and it’s not exactly a high point in Abram and Sarai’s story. In fact, it’s one of those moments that they probably would’ve rather forgotten. But here it is in all its ugliness, reminding us of how prone we all are to sin and how great our need is for God’s saving grace. It’s a difficult part of Abram’s story, but an important one. No doubt, coming face-to-face with our sin is unpleasant—but it is oh so important that we do! Pray and ask the Lord to use this text to reveal our sin to us, draw us to repentance, and set our hope in the gospel. Love you, CP. TK

Dear CrossPointe, This Sunday, we’ll be in one of the most important chapters in the whole Bible, Genesis 15:1–21. This is where Scripture first vocalizes the most important doctrine of the Christian faith: justification by faith alone. And it’s been rightly argued that “the doctrine of justification by faith alone is the article upon which the church stands or falls.” What a privilege we have to come together and deepen our love for this great truth of God’s saving grace. Give Genesis 15 a read and come ready to rejoice in the free gift of saving grace. And in God’s kindness, we’ll also take communion together. Dear CrossPointe, As we continue our study through the book of Genesis, this Sunday we come to Genesis 14:1–24. I think the right way to describe the story contained in this chapter boils down to two words: war and mystery. I’ll leave it at that for now and simply say that I’m really excited to dig into this chapter with you. Also, our Boston team is leaving this Saturday, so do be in prayer for them. I’m so thankful for these folks whom the Lord has led to go and serve the Wards and Kings Hill South Boston. I’m praying and trusting that God will bring forth much fruit from this trip.
