Dear Church, I hope you were as blessed by our Good Friday service as I was! I think it is so important for us to take time to meditate on the work of Christ on the cross on our behalf. Truly, for those who believe in Him, He has suffered in our place—it is where undeserved wrath and undeserved mercy are both poured out. If you were not able to join us, we missed you! This Sunday, we will be in Mark 16:1–8 as we come together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Mark’s account of Jesus rising from the dead reminds us that His disciples, though they had been told, were not at all expecting that He would rise. There is a clear air of love and devotion mixed with hopelessness and helplessness. But what is so marvelous about Jesus’ death and resurrection is that it does not depend on the strength or resolve of our faith—the effectiveness of our salvation is summarized in one simple, earth-shattering statement: “He is risen.” Oh dear believer, Jesus died and rose again! Death has been put to death! Hallelujah, what a Savior! Take some time to read through the last two chapters of Mark (14–16) to prepare for worship. Let us pray that God would be glorified, believers would be edified, and unbelievers would be saved! With love in Christ, TK

Dear Church, I’m really grateful for Reuben’s sermon this past Sunday. I walked away feeling both encouraged and convicted in my commitment to living my life in a Christlike manner. If you missed it, please take time to listen. Since this Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week—the final week of Jesus’ earthly ministry—we’re going to take a break from Genesis for the next two Sundays and consider some of the events of Jesus’ last days. This Sunday, we’ll look at Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem from John 12:12–19. We traditionally call it Palm Sunday because the crowds used palm branches to welcome Jesus into the city as a king. At first glance, we might say, “How wonderful that so many proclaimed Jesus as king!” But things are not as encouraging as they might seem when we ask, “What kind of king did they expect Jesus to be?” In fact, that question is the whole point of Jesus’ triumphal entry. It's His self-declaration of who He is and what He has come to do. I pray we're given eyes to see and ears to hear. See y’all on Sunday! TK
